Background<\/h1><\/div>

Within a major energy conglomerate<\/strong>, the Production Department<\/strong> aims to address its performance challenges by launching a program that includes an operational efficiency component involving on-site projects<\/strong>. As part of this effort, the Quality Management team at<\/strong> a nuclear facility decided to pilot a 5S approach<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It would have been a sure thing if:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • The issues encountered by the field teams<\/strong> were taken into account.<\/li>\n
  • Employees were given the responsibility to improve their day-to-day operations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Facilitation skills<\/strong> were developed in-house.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>

    Overall assessment of the auto repair shop:<\/b><\/p>\n

    • Raising the team’s awareness of the process.<\/li>\n
    • Collecting and measuring problems on the shop floor.<\/li>\n
    • Target vision, macro-level implementation, procurement needs.<\/li>\n
    • Approval of the roadmap, including the pilot sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Prioritization and 5S support for two pilot areas:<\/b><\/p>\n

      • Support throughout the implementation process, including the definition and implementation of visual standards.<\/li>\n
      • Preparation and debriefing of work sessions.<\/li>\n
