50 agricultural practices evaluated based on their carbon, agronomic, and environmental impacts.

USE CASES
Accelerating the decarbonization of agricultural supply chains to support animal nutrition (Mars Pet Nutrition).
The transition to low-carbon agricultural models requires a detailed understanding of farming practices, their impacts, and the associated benefits. Identifying, quantifying, and comparing reduction strategies helps guide agricultural sectors toward credible, effective, and scientifically sound pathways.
Mission Objective
Assess the carbon reduction potential of agricultural practices in the Group’s upstream supply chains and analyze the co-benefits associated with adopting Regenerative Agriculture practices.
Our Approach
To achieve this goal, we have:
- Analyzed the potential for reducing emissions by 2050 for a wide range of regenerative agricultural practices;
- Conducted a detailed analysis of approximately 50 practices, including their implementation requirements, their impact on productivity, their environmental effects, and their operational feasibility;
- Assessed the major co-benefits for soil health, water management, and biodiversity;
- Developed strategic recommendations to guide the sectors toward the most effective practices best suited to their contexts.
Low-carbon and resilient agricultural pathways.
This in-depth analysis enables the group to prioritize high-impact actions, guide investments, and strengthen the overall sustainability of supply chains by combining carbon reduction with ecosystem restoration.
