A new value chain built around agricultural byproducts and local resources.

USE CASES
The utilization of byproducts from crop production is a key driver for developing sustainable livestock production systems. In Senegal, the establishment of a cattle and sheep production facility helps optimize the use of local resources while meeting the food needs of the local population.
Mission Objective
The goal was to make better use of plant byproducts by establishing an animal production facility tailored to the available forage resources and regional dietary habits.
Our Approach
To achieve this goal, we have:
- Scale beef and sheep production in line with local forage production;
- Developed several development scenarios, taking into account the consumption patterns of Fulani farmers in the region and local constraints;
- Proposed a technical and economic model to ensure the workshop’s feasibility and profitability.
Toward Sustainable Animal Production
This study provides a solid foundation for the establishment of a cattle and sheep production unit, optimizing the use of local resources and contributing to the sustainability and profitability of regional livestock farming.
